It was once thought that 1 year of a cat’s life was the equivalent to 7 years of human life. This has since been revised and a new scale accepted. After the first 2 years, the life of a cat proceeds more slowly in relation to that of a human life. Each cat year is approximately 4 human years. The general opinion is that when a cat is about 7 it is ‘middle-aged’, and from 10 years onwards, ‘old!’
